Melanie Webster Violin Studio

Teaching both group and individual Suzuki Programs

Melanie Webster brings her versatile background as a trained violin instructor and a Master's Degree in Psychology to her individual and group violin instruction sessions where she emphasizes the well-regarded Suzuki method

Learning to play a musical instrument should be a pleasant and rewarding experience; and it is for students at the Melanie Webster Violin Studio. Melanie holds a Master's Degree in Music and Psychology.

Her approach to instruction is based on the Suzuki method combined with other practices to create a dynamic and successful program responsive to each student's needs and musical development.

The Suzuki method includes group performances adapted to the varying abilities of the participating students. The group classes, which are in addition to individual instruction, tend to stimulate a "team" attitude that encourages students to practice and improve their skills. The effectiveness of Melanie's teaching methods is evident in the enthusiastic public responses to the three public recitals performed each year by her students. Her students range from ages 3 through adult. Many of her students who started violin lessons before they started school, continued their instruction with her until they left home for college.

Melanie is registered with the national headquarters of the Suzuki Association of America and was founder and director of the Northern California Suzuki Institute for seven years. She currently is a member of the Music Teachers Association of California; the American String Teachers Association; and is an authorized Pathways Charter School teacher for Northern California. Melanie is also active with the Chamber Musicians of Northern California and currently is concertmistress of the Baroque Sinfonia of Santa Rosa and a founding member of the Cantabile String Quartet. For five summers, she has coached chamber music groups at the Youth Artist Chamber Ensemble Program, Sonoma State University.
