The studio program consists of
weekly individual instruction (for all but the youngest beginners) and
various levels of group participation, generally corresponding to Suzuki
performance standards. Individual
lessons may vary from one-half hour up to 60 minutes per week.
The younger beginners may start in a weekly group setting while
preparing to undertake individual instruction. Private instruction is available once a week in Santa Rosa and
the rest of the week in Sebastopol.
A large group class also meets on a monthly basis at the
Sebastopol studio. Melanie’s
advanced students are encouraged to participate in chamber ensembles and
to pursue technically difficult solo literature.
All students, at all levels, perform for the large public
recitals, held three times a year.
Melanie Webster holds a
Master’s degree in Music and Psychology and has been a registered
Suzuki teacher since 1992, successfully completing more than 20
post-graduate courses
in teacher-training. Melanie’s
approach to instruction draws from a Suzuki base intertwined with a
variety of other methods to create a dynamic and successful program,
responsive to each student’s personal needs and musical development.
